Concept of The Messiah in the World’s different Religions:
In Christianity, the Messiah is Jesus, who is believed to be the Son of God and the savior ofhumanity. In Judaism, the Messiah is a future leader who will usher in an era of peace and prosperity for the Jewish people. In Islam, the Messiah is known as the Mahdi and is believed to be a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad who will appear before the end of the world to restore justice and righteousness. In Hinduism, the concept of a messiah is not as prominent, but there are certain figures such as Kalki who are believed to bring about the end of the world and the start of a new era.
In Islam, the
Messiah is known as the Mahdi and is believed to be a descendant of the Prophet
Muhammad who will appear before the end of the world to restore justice and
righteousness. The belief in the Mahdi is not universally held among Muslims
and is particularly emphasized by Shia Muslims. According to Shia tradition,
the Mahdi will be the final Imam, who will appear with Jesus to defeat the
forces of evil, establish peace, and bring about the end of the world. Sunni
Muslims also have a belief in the coming of a savior-like figure, known as the
"Mahdi" but it is not as emphasized as the Shia belief. The concept
of the Mahdi is not mentioned in the Quran, but it is based on Hadith and
Islamic tradition.
In Judaism, the
Messiah is a future leader who will usher in an era of peace and prosperity for
the Jewish people. The belief in the coming of the Messiah is a fundamental
aspect of Jewish theology and is rooted in the Hebrew Bible and Jewish
tradition. According to Jewish tradition, the Messiah will be a descendant of
King David, who will restore the kingdom of Israel, rebuild the Temple in
Jerusalem, and bring about the ingathering of the Jewish people to the land of
Israel. The Messiah will also be a political leader who will bring about the
end of oppression and the establishment of a just society. Additionally, the
Messiah will be a spiritual leader who will bring the knowledge of God to all
nations and bring about the ultimate redemption of humanity. The concept of the
Messiah is not limited to the Jewish religion but also present in Christianity
and Islam.
In Hinduism, the
concept of a messiah is not as prominent as in other religions. However, there
are certain figures such as Kalki who are believed to bring about the end of
the world and the start of a new era. According to Hindu tradition, Kalki will
be the final incarnation of the god Vishnu, who will appear at the end of the
current age of darkness and ignorance (known as Kali Yuga) to restore
righteousness and destroy evil. He is often depicted riding a white horse and
wielding a sword. Kalki will usher in a new age of peace, prosperity and
enlightenment known as Satya Yuga.
Additionally, in Hinduism, the ultimate goal is not salvation or redemption but rather the attainment of spiritual liberation (moksha) for the individual soul through the attainment of knowledge and union with the ultimate reality. The belief in messiah or a savior is not central in Hinduism but rather depends on the sect, tradition and personal beliefs.
